Catherine A. Cooper, LMHC

If I take the time to reflect on my own experiences in therapy then I can appreciate the challenges of entering into therapy. The process of finding a therapist and becoming vulnerable with a stranger can be anxiety-provoking. You are more than welcome to take your time reviewing my biography and see if I am the right fit for you. I have always been fascinated by the psychological implication of the brain and human experiences.  I value connect and a strong therapeutic relationship and my approach is founded in science and research.

Catherine A. Cooper is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with a Masters in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling with a Certification in Marriage and Family Counseling from the University of South Florida.

South Tampa Therapist - My Clinical Experience

I began working in a transition program meaning that I worked with indigent adolescences transiting into adulthood. These adolescences typically struggled with substance use, trauma, and self-harm. I further developed my clinical skills with The Department of Veterans Affairs where I worked with substance use, anger management, and couples. I also worked with a diversion program, which includes assisting individuals within the criminal justice system. Much of my clinical training includes trauma work. I have always been fascinated by the psychological implication of the brain and human experiences. I like knowing that my approach is founded on research.

Counselings Services - My Goal

I understand that everyone has different needs in therapy and I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all approach. I fully believe in the importance of a therapeutic relationship. I want everyone that walks through my door to feel understood, support, and empowered. I hope to witness growth as I operate as a guild along your journey.
